Les Feldick Bible Study

Can a believer have more of the peace of God at some times than others?

Yes. While peace with God is settled at salvation and never leaves, the peace of God can be experienced in greater measure at some times than others. As believers walk, pray, and leave everything in heaven’s throne room, they can come away daily with peace that passes understanding, guarding heart and mind.

Les explains that peace with God is different from the peace of God. Peace with God was made at salvation, when the sinner was reconciled through the work of the cross, no longer an outcast but now God’s child. Then, as one walks the Christian life, there can be outpourings of the peace of God. It never leaves, but believers can have more at some times than others, just as with the filling of the Spirit. As they pray and leave everything in the throne room of heaven, they can come away every day knowing the peace of God that passes all understanding, which is beyond human concept and understood only by the believer. That peace keeps hearts, minds, and mental health in balance even through adverse circumstances, giving assurance of His peace.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
