What does the peace of God do for a believer in hard times?

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guards and keeps a believer’s heart and mind during trying times. It does not depend on circumstances changing, because Christ Jesus remains constant, never failing and always present. Even when God does not grant a specific request, His peace sustains the believer through the hardship.

Les explains that the peace of God passes all understanding because we cannot always comprehend how God answers, since sometimes He does not grant what we ask. It may not rain, but whether it does or not, the believer has the peace of God. That peace will keep our hearts and minds as we go through these trying times, and it shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, who is the constant, never fails, and is always there. Les contrasts this with the peace with God received at salvation; the peace of God carries believers through their trying times.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
