Why is the Lamb worthy to take the scroll and open its seals in Revelation 5:9?
The Lamb is worthy because He was slain and crucified, and by His death, burial, and resurrection He redeemed people to God out of every kindred, tongue, people, and nation. He alone can pay off the curse and Satan's mortgage, making believers kings and priests who will reign on the earth.
Les explains that in Revelation 5 the Lamb, Christ the Son of God, comes before the Ancient of Days according to Daniel and takes the mortgage from the hand of God the Father, saying in so many words, "I'll pay it off." What He pays off is the curse the world has been under since Genesis chapter 3, and He will pay off Satan's mortgage. He alone can do it because of His death, burial, and resurrection, and He is worthy. Revelation 5:8-9 shows the four creatures and twenty-four elders falling down before Him with harps and singing a new song: "Thou art worthy to take the scroll, and to open the seals thereof." Les says He is worthy because He was slain, crucified, and redeemed us to God out of every kindred, tongue, people, and nation, making us kings and priests, with the promise that we shall reign on the earth. This is the whole reason for the seven years of tribulation, when Satan has his final time.
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
