Why does the Lamb open the seven-sealed scroll in Revelation?

The Lamb opens the seven-sealed scroll because He has taken the mortgage with the seven seals and now begins the process of paying it off. As He opens each seal, the events unfold and take us up to the midpoint of the tribulation.

Les teaches that God the Son has taken the mortgage with the seven seals on it, and now He is going to open it and begin the process of paying it off. The Lamb of God, who is God the Son and the Christ, opens the first of those seven seals that are sealing this mortgage on the outside. The seals are taken off one at a time, and these seven seals take us up to the midpoint of the tribulation. After the stage is set with worship in Revelation 5, chapter 6 introduces the four horsemen of the apocalypse as the Lamb opens the seals.
