Where should believers spend a good amount of time in order to please God?
Believers should spend a good share of their time in the Book, the Word, so they may be pleasing in God's eyes. They are to inundate themselves with the Word, which has a cleansing effect, as Ephesians 5:26 describes the washing of water by the Word.
Les teaches from Joshua that the book of the law was not to depart out of their mouth, but they were to meditate therein day and night, and then their way would prosper. He asks what the lesson is for us: if believers are going to be pleasing in God's eyes, they must spend a good share of time in the Book. He then points to Ephesians 5:26, where the text speaks of being sanctified and cleansed with the washing of water by the Word—not baptismal water. Les says we literally inundate ourselves with the Word, and it has a cleansing effect.
