What kind of nation did God promise to bring out of Abram?
God promised that out of Abram would come a nation—a distinct race of people totally different from anything previously on the scene. That nation would be placed in a specific geographical land, and God Himself would later come in the flesh as their Messiah and King.
Les teaches from Genesis 15 that after God called Abram out of Ur of the Chaldees in chapter 12 and gave him the covenant, He promised Abram that out of him would come a nation, a race of people totally different than anything that had been on the scene. When they became a nation, God would put them in a geographical area of land, which He points out in chapter 15. At some future point, God Himself would come in the flesh and be their Messiah and King. Les explains that this is the whole concept of the Abrahamic covenant.
