Does God always make His plan understandable to us?

No, God does not always make His plan understandable to us. There are many things God does that we cannot understand, yet He works in His own way and according to His own will, as illustrated in Joseph’s sovereignly planned suffering and preservation.

Les explains that Joseph’s miserable experiences were all part of God’s sovereign plan. He points out that there are many things God does that we cannot understand, but God does things in His own way, according to His own will. Joseph knew this, so he told his brothers not to be grieved or angry, because God had sent him ahead to preserve them. Had Joseph not been in Egypt, the twelve sons would have likely died in the famine, but God in His providence had prepared everything. Les also connects this to Israel’s future reunion with Christ, when Zechariah 12:10 says they will look on the One they pierced, mourn for Him, and suddenly know He is their God and they are His people.
