Les Feldick Bible Study

Does God tell us everything we want to know?

No. The secret things belong to the Lord our God, and He is sovereign. He does not reveal everything people would like to know; He gives what they need to know and reveals it in His own time. Belief follows only after God speaks and reveals His truth.

Les explains from Moses' words to Israel that the secret things belong to the Lord our God because He is sovereign. God does not tell us everything we would like to know, but He tells us everything we need to know, and He tells it in His own time. The things God has not yet spoken remain hidden; only what He reveals belongs to us and our children. Therefore Adam, Eve, and Abraham were not expected to believe the Gospel before God revealed it. When God revealed the Gospel of grace—that Christ died, shed His blood, was buried, and rose again—He expects people to believe it, because faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
