Who is the 'seed' in the promise God made to Jacob?

The 'seed' in the promise to Jacob is the Christ, the Messiah. Through this promised Messiah, all the families and nations of the earth would one day receive the blessings of God. The seed is identified as the Messiah, not Jacob's physical descendants alone.

Les explains that when God promised Jacob, 'in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed,' the seed is not merely Jacob's physical offspring. He identifies it directly as the Christ, the Messiah. The promise meant that through the promised Messiah, all the nations of the world would one day receive the blessings of God. This was given in the context of Jacob's dream, where God also promised to be with Jacob, keep him in all places, and bring him again into the land of Canaan.
