Who is the seed that God promised through Jacob in Genesis 28:14?
The promised seed is the Christ, the Messiah. The context explains that through the promised Messiah all the nations of the world would one day receive the blessings of God. Therefore Jacob's seed in Genesis 28:14 is identified as the Messiah, through whom God's blessing would reach all families of the earth.
Les teaches that Genesis 28:14 speaks of Jacob's seed being as the dust of the earth, spreading west, east, north, and south, and that in Jacob and his seed all families of the earth would be blessed. He then asks what this seed is and answers that it is the Christ, the Messiah. It would be through the promised Messiah that all the nations of the world would one day receive the blessings of God. The passage also includes God's promise to be with Jacob, keep him in all places, bring him again into the land, and not leave him until He has done what He spoke. After Jacob awakes, he calls the place Bethel, meaning house of God, a contraction involving Elohim.
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
