When was the land between the Mediterranean and the River Jordan given to Israel?

This territory between the Mediterranean and the River Jordan was granted to the nation of Israel 4,000 years ago. Scripture identifies it as Canaan, the land God gave to Abraham and his seed, and the context stresses that God never goes back on His Word.

Les explains that Genesis speaks of God Almighty blessing Abraham, making him fruitful, and giving the blessing of Abraham to him and his seed so they may inherit the land wherein he was a stranger—that is Canaan, which God gave to Abraham. Les then says the land between the Mediterranean and the River Jordan was given to the nation of Israel 4,000 years ago, and God never goes back on His Word. He also notes that secular history records the ancients, including the Egyptians, already calling Palestine the divine land or God's land before Abraham came out of Ur, even though they did not know the true God.
