What are the three components of the law system?

The law system consists of three components: the Ten Commandments, the worship regulations, and the civil law. The context explains that the whole system of law includes these three, and students of Scripture must determine whether the word "law" refers to the entire system or only the Ten Commandments.

Les explains that when studying Scripture, especially Paul's use of "law" in Romans, one must determine whether the reference is to the whole system of law or just the Ten Commandments. The whole system comprises the Ten Commandments, the worship, and the civil law. The civil law covered how neighbors dealt with each other, how society handled intrinsic problems, and how to transfer deeds of land. Israel had not yet received the law at chapter 19, but they had come out of Egypt. The people answered that they would do all the Lord had spoken, which is legalism.
