What are the three parts of the Mosaic Law?
The Mosaic Law is divided into three basic parts: the moral law, normally called the Ten Commandments; the ecclesiastical law, associated with worship; and the civil law, governing the nation's societal life. These divisions cover moral conduct, worship practices, and civil matters for Israel.
Les explains that the law was basically in three parts. The first is the moral law, which is normally referred to as the Ten Commandments. The second is the ecclesiastical law, or the law associated with their worship. The third part of the law was civil. He also notes that the difference between law and grace is an area of confusion amongst all people, and he wants to help people understand it. In the context, Moses is going up into Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments and the rest of the law.
