What did Job expect regarding seeing God?
Job expected to see God in his flesh, on the earth, in the latter days, when his Redeemer stands upon the earth. He did not expect to see God in heaven; rather, he looked for a future earthly resurrection and bodily sight of God.
Les explains that Job 19 says, "I know that my Redeemer liveth, and in the latter days shall stand on the earth." He points out that Job did not say he would see Him in heaven, but that in the latter days He shall stand upon the earth, and in his flesh Job says he shall see God. This reflects Israel's earthly promises: the Jew knew nothing of dying and going to heaven. So Job's expectation was an earthly, bodily seeing of God.
