Why was Job in a dilemma?
Job faced a dilemma because he lived a righteous life and was a pillar of his community, yet God permitted Satan to strike him and take away everything he had. His friends offered explanations, but the real issue surfaces later, especially in Job chapter 38.
Les explains that Job was in a dilemma: he had been living a righteous life and was the pillar of his community, yet suddenly God permitted Satan to strike him and take away everything he had. Job's three friends came and told him the reason for his problems was this, that, and everything else. But Les says the crux of Job's problem is not reached until Job chapter 38. Job did have a problem, and he was not perfect; had he been perfect, those things would not have befallen him. God still had a tremendous lesson even for Job.
