Where are we positionally according to God's Word, and when did God begin building it?
According to God's Word, believers are positionally in Christ, in the heavenlies, as adopted children by Jesus Christ, predestinated to that position. God began building this ever since He began with Adam in the garden in Genesis. This is received by faith, not feeling.
Les explains that the Jew knew nothing of a position in Christ. Israel knew covenant relationship and the promises God made to their forefathers, but they knew nothing of being in Christ. Even for us today it is hard to comprehend, but we take these things by faith. Les says he does not feel like he is in Christ in Heaven, but he knows he is because the Word says so. Every believer must understand that what the Bible says is true and take it by faith; we do not necessarily feel it, and emotions, though fine up to a point, can never take the place of good biblical doctrine. So even though we may not feel like it, on the basis of God's Word, that is where we are: in Christ, in the heavenlies, part and parcel of everything God has been building ever since He began with Adam in the garden in Genesis. Ephesians chapter 1 continues that He has already predestinated us into the position, and adoption in verse 5 means He has placed us positionally as children by Jesus Christ Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, for the purpose that we would be to the praise of the glory of His.
