Where are we positionally according to God's Word even when we don't feel it?
According to God's Word, the believer is positionally in Christ, in the heavenlies, and is part and parcel of everything God has been building since Adam. This position does not depend on feelings; it is taken by faith because Scripture declares it true. Ephesians 1 describes believers as predestinated and placed positionally as children by Jesus Christ.
Les explains that our position in Christ is primarily what the Scriptures are directing us to understand, and the Jew knew nothing of such a position. Even today it is hard to comprehend, so we take it by faith. Les says, “I don't feel like I'm in Christ, in Heaven, but I know that I am, because the Word says I am.” Every believer must understand that what the Bible says is true and take it by faith, not necessarily by feeling. Emotions are not dealt with; they are fine up to a point, but they can never take the place of good biblical doctrine. Even though we may not feel like it, on the basis of God's Word that is where we are: in Christ, in the heavenlies, part and parcel of everything God has been building since He began with Adam in Genesis. In Ephesians chapter 1, He has already predestinated us into that position, and adoption in verse 5 means He has placed us positionally as children by Jesus Christ Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, for the purpose that we would be to the praise of the glory of His.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
