What must every believer come to understand about the Bible?
Every believer must come to understand that what the Bible says is true and accept it by faith. This truth is not based on feelings or emotions, for emotions cannot take the place of sound biblical doctrine. Even when one does not feel like it, God's Word declares the believer's position in Christ.
Les explains that every believer has to come to understand that what the Bible says is true, and we take it by faith. We do not necessarily feel it, and emotions are not the basis for our standing. Emotions are fine up to a point, but they can never take the place of good biblical doctrine. The Jew knew his covenant relationship and the promises made to the forefathers, but he knew nothing of a position in Christ. Even for us today it is hard to comprehend, yet we take these things by faith. Though we may not feel like we are in Christ in the heavenlies, on the basis of God's Word that is where we are. We are in Christ, in the heavenlies, and part of everything God has been building since He began with Adam in the garden. Ephesians chapter 1 continues this, showing that He has already predestinated us into that position, and the word adoption means He has placed us positionally as children by Jesus Christ Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.
