can every believer understand and enjoy the Bible for themselves?
Yes. Every believer can simply get into the Book and feast on it, though most will not. The excuse 'I can't understand it' is unfounded; understanding is not that difficult when you separate what is for the Jew from what is for the Gentile and compare Scripture with Scripture under Law and Grace.
Les teaches that the same principle applies today: every believer can get into the Book and feast on it, but most won't. When someone says, 'I can't understand it,' Les responds that they can and it is not that difficult. His first premise is to separate that which is for the Jew from that which is for the Gentile. That does not mean throwing aside the Jewish portions; rather, compare Scripture with Scripture, recognizing that God dealt with the Jew under Law while He deals with us today under Grace. Law and Grace are contrary principles and will not mix. Paul cries against legalism because we are not under Law but under Grace. The Corinthian believers were not cashing in on the fountain of wisdom that was theirs for the taking.
