Can every believer understand the Bible?
Yes, every believer can get into the Book and feast on it; the idea that it is too difficult to understand is an excuse. It is not that difficult. Understanding comes by separating what is for the Jew from what is for the Gentile and comparing Scripture with Scripture.
Les teaches that every believer can simply get into the Book and feast on it, but most won't. The common excuse, 'I can't understand it,' is answered with 'Yeah you can, it's not that difficult.' His first premise for understanding is to separate that which is for the Jew from that which is for the Gentile. This does not mean throwing aside the Jewish portion, but comparing Scripture with Scripture in light of the fact that God dealt with the Jew under the Law while dealing with us today under Grace. Law and Grace are two totally contrary principles that will not mix. Les also notes that the Apostle Paul cries against legalism in any shape or form, because we are not under the Law but under Grace. The Corinthian believers were still carnal, not cashing in on the fountain of wisdom that was theirs for the taking.
