Can a truly born-again believer test God's grace to see how far it goes?

No. A truly born-again child of God will not test God’s grace to see how far down He can go. While God’s grace reaches even failing believers and they remain forgiven, that truth is never license for sin; using it as license gives valid reason to doubt a true salvation experience.

Les explains that even the carnal Corinthians were confirmed to the end and would be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. He says this shows how far the grace of God will reach down, and they were already under the blood and forgiven. But Les stresses this is not licensed for sin. If a person makes license of grace, he thinks there is every right to doubt a true salvation experience, because he cannot believe a true born-again child of God will test God’s grace to see how far down He can go and still find the grace of God there. He just cannot believe a believer can do that.

1 Corinthians 1:8

Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
