Does grace give a believer permission to sin?

No. Scripture teaches that grace is not a license to sin. While grace is greater where sin abounds, the believer is not supposed to sin. Paul instructs believers to turn from the instincts of old Adam, put him down, and keep him under control so that they sin not.

Les explains that grace is not licensed for the believer, and he repeats this until his dying day. Though he promotes the grace of God and affirms that where sin abounds grace is greater, he insists believers are not supposed to sin. The old Adam nature works constantly to cause sin and succeeds too often, but believers are to keep old Adam in subjection, feed the divine new nature, and put him down so they sin not. Paul had the carnal Corinthian church in mind, believers who lacked knowledge and wisdom.
