Les Feldick Bible Study

How long can celebrities and athletes actually enjoy the fast lane?

Not very long. Entertainers and wealthy athletes may enjoy the fast lane only briefly because the body cannot sustain it, and by around age 50 they are old with ruined health, leaving them asking what it was all for. Spiritual things, by contrast, last forever.

Les teaches that the world's fast lane is short-lived. He points to entertainers and wealthy athletes and asks how long they can enjoy it, answering that it is not very long. The body cannot take it; they reach 50, become old, their health is shot, and they ask what for. By contrast, the believer's appetite is now spiritual because the Lord gives insight that spiritual things last forever, not merely 70 years. Les notes believers may seem to shun those things, but they are not missing them; the world only thinks so. The end result is their heavenly position: spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, seated in Christ. He then turns to I Corinthians 12:12 and the members of that one body.
