Les Feldick Bible Study

Why does fame and beauty not satisfy people in the long run?

They are temporary things of this world that pass like a blade of grass cut down in the afternoon. The flush of beauty wears off, and the famous are cast away as unimportant. Only eternal things last forever, so temporal fame and beauty cannot satisfy.

Les teaches that famous entertainers may live high on the hog, but only for a few years. Then the flush of beauty wears off, they are cast away and no longer important, and many end up committing suicide or in alcohol treatment like the Betty Ford facility. He explains that the things of this world pass just like a blade of grass that comes up in the morning and is cut off in the afternoon, while the things that are eternal last forever and ever. He also ties this to the three areas of temptation—the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life—which every human faces almost daily, beginning with Eve in Genesis 3.
