Is salvation by grace through faith alone?
Salvation is entirely of grace, received by faith plus nothing else. It is not under law or any legalistic demands. Believers are justified, forgiven, sanctified, and glorified because Christ finished everything needed at the cross. Adding works or rituals denies the finished work and suggests Christ did not complete salvation.
Les explains that Galatians shows believers are not under the system of law or any legalistic demands for salvation. Instead, salvation is all of grace by faith plus nothing else. Grace means we believe God did everything that needed to be done, that Christ finished the work of the cross. If we try to add anything, we imply Christ didn't really finish it, but He did. Through Paul's writings, God assures us we stand justified, forgiven, sanctified, and glorified because we believe it is a finished transaction. The Galatians were tempted to return to legalism, then prompted by Jews and circumcision; today similar additions are urged besides believing the gospel.
