Is salvation by faith alone, or do works have a part in it?
Salvation is by faith and faith alone, not by works. Everything else must follow but has no part in salvation. It must be faith plus nothing; adding anything else tells God He did not quite finish the work. Romans 10:9 calls for confessing the Lord Jesus and believing God raised Him from the dead.
Les teaches from Romans chapter 10, which he calls a tremendous chapter on salvation, that salvation is by faith and faith alone. Everything else has to follow, but it has no part in salvation. He stresses that it must be faith plus nothing; otherwise you are telling God He didn't quite finish the work. In Romans 10:9, the text says to confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead.
