Is salvation by works or by grace through faith?

Salvation is by God's grace, not by works. A person is made righteous by believing the gospel, and righteousness is imputed through faith. No one works for it or deserves it; it is all of God's grace, appropriated by faith. Works contribute nothing to salvation.

Les teaches that salvation is entirely by God's grace and not by human works. He explains that righteousness is imputed to us as a result of believing the gospel, and there is nothing else. We do not work for it and do not deserve it; it is all of God's grace, and we appropriate it by faith. Les also stresses that people must know what they believe, not merely believe empty gobbledygook. Paul delivered the gospel he himself received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and arose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Paul received this gospel from the ascended Lord in glory, not from the twelve in Jerusalem, and it is why this gospel is not found in the four gospels, since Christ had not yet died.
