What has changed in Christianity compared to 50 or 60 years ago?
Christianity today has been leavened by false teaching. The things Scripture and Christianity stood against fifty, sixty, or seventy years ago are now part and parcel of everyday experience. The church accommodated worldly things, opening its doors wide until one cannot tell the difference between the church and the world.
Les explains that leaven is yeast, and just as a little yeast leavens the whole lump of dough, a little false teaching permeates the whole and one thing leads to another. He says Christendom in general has been leavened, and Christianity today is leavened. The things Scripture and Christianity stood against 50, 60, or 70 years ago are now part and parcel of everyday experience. He recalls visiting a church where the things of the world came knocking, and the church said it could accommodate them; then more world stuff came in, and now the doors are wide open so that you cannot tell the difference between the church and the world. What happened? A little leaven leavened the whole lump. Paul, however, did not give up on the people, trusting that God would bring them back to the truth.
