Has anyone ever actually kept the whole Law?
No. Human history records only one person who kept the whole Law—Christ Himself. Everyone else who seeks salvation through legalistic works becomes a debtor to the whole Law, which is impossible to keep. Therefore, no one has ever been saved by Law-keeping; salvation cannot be gained by doing something.
Les explains that if a person uses circumcision as a legalistic part of salvation, adding it to the Gospel, that man becomes a debtor to do the whole Law. He then asks how many men in human history have ever done it, and answers that only one did—Christ Himself. No one has ever been able to keep the whole Law; it is impossible. So those who try to gain salvation by doing something are barking up a wrong tree. It is not gained by saying you believe Christ died for you while also insisting you must do this or that, or walk the aisle. In that case Christ profits you nothing, because God is a jealous God. He is jealous of what He accomplished on our behalf: at the cross He finished every single demand of God on a sinful person, and He takes all that guilt away the moment a person believes Christ died and rose from the dead.
For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
