what did John do when he reached the empty tomb?

John ran to the empty sepulcher with Peter after Mary Magdalene reported the tomb empty. John arrived first, went in, saw, and believed. Scripture notes that as yet they did not know the Scripture that He must rise again from the dead.

Les explains that Peter and John ran to the empty tomb after Mary Magdalene told them it was empty, and everyone was shocked. John, the other disciple, came first to the sepulcher, went in, saw, and believed. Les points out that they had no idea He was going to rise from the dead, even though Jesus had told them plainly. God kept it secret from them; as yet they did not know the Scripture that He must rise again from the dead.
