What happened when Peter and John ran to the empty tomb in John 20?
Racing to the empty tomb, Peter and John saw the proof of the resurrection and believed. Yet the next verse says that as yet they still did not understand the Scriptures, that He should rise from the dead. God had kept that truth hidden.
Les explains that the twelve had not fully understood what was going on and were not waiting at the tomb. When they were told He was alive, they could not believe it. In John chapter 20, Peter and John race to the empty tomb. When they saw the proof of resurrection, it says they believed. But the next verse says that as yet they understood not the Scriptures, that He should rise from the dead. This reflects God's prerogative to hold things secret, as He did with Daniel and the twelve.
