What is given to those who believe the promise by faith of Jesus Christ?
Eternal life and salvation are given to believers. This gift comes by believing the Gospel—Christ's death, shed blood, burial, and resurrection—not by human goodness. It is granted freely to those who trust the promise by faith in Jesus Christ, but only after they recognize they are lost.
Les teaches from Galatians 3:22 that Scripture has concluded all under sin, so the promise by faith of Jesus Christ is for those who believe in His death, shed blood, burial, and resurrection. To such believers it is given—eternal life, salvation. It is for nothing except believing the Gospel. Yet this belief does no good until a person realizes they are lost. Like a little lamb trapped in a crevice with no hope unless the shepherd comes, lost people must see their hopeless condition before God can save them. Good people may think they are not that bad, but until they realize how spiritually lost they are, God cannot save them. Les stresses that God has forgiven every sin and done everything needed, but one day it will be too late.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
