What is the sequence of events after the ascension according to Psalm 2?

According to Psalm 2, after Christ ascended back to glory, the next event is God's wrath and vexation—the seven-year Tribulation—followed by Christ's return to establish His Kingdom. The psalmist declares God has set His King upon Zion's holy hill, and the church age is absent from the Old Testament.

Les explains that after Christ's three years of earthly ministry to Israel, they crucified Him, and He ascended back to glory. According to Psalm 2, the next event in the prophetic timeline is not a pretty picture: God's wrath and vexation, His sore displeasure, which is the seven years of Tribulation. He will vex the nations of the world and Israel in particular. Then Christ will come and set up His Kingdom, for the psalmist writes that God has set His King upon the holy hill of Zion, meaning the Kingdom. Les points out that what is missing from this Old Testament sequence is the church age; the Old Testament says not a word about it.
