What happens right after the Tribulation in Psalm 2?

Right after the Tribulation, God the Father sets His King, God the Son, upon the holy hill of Zion. The Son declares the decree, is begotten in resurrection, and asks for the heathen as His inheritance, which speaks of His rule and reign on the earth.

Les explains that immediately following verse 5—the Tribulation—the next event in the timeline is God setting His King upon the holy hill of Zion, the place of the Lord. This is God the Father speaking to God the Son: "Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee," and the begetting is the resurrection. In verse 8 the Son asks and receives the heathen—not only the Jew—as His inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for His possession, which speaks of His rule and reign here on the earth. Les then notes that verse 9 backs up to the Tribulation, where the nations are broken with a rod of iron and dashed in pieces like a potter's vessel, culminating at Armageddon. Verses 11–12 call for serving the Lord with fear, rejoicing with trembling, and kissing the Son, lest His wrath be kindled, with blessing on all who put their trust in Him.

Psalms 2:6

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
