What happened to Israel when the nation lost contact with the Word of God?
When Israel lost contact with the Word of God, the nation went down the tube. This pattern shows that withdrawing God's Word leads to decline, as in the Dark Ages when Scripture was confined to monasteries and the average man lacked access.
Les explains that Israel at times in her history lost contact with the Word of God, and the result was that they went down the tube nationally. He parallels this to the Dark Ages from 500 to 1500 A.D., when the Word of God was confined to the monasteries and the average man didn't have access to it. Les says this is exactly what happens to the human race when the Word of God is withdrawn. The application is to come out from a world that is diabolically opposed to what we believe, and to be separate, as the Lord says.
