Why does the devil attack ministries and churches?
The devil attacks ministries and churches because he delights in besmirching them and putting a smudge on the ministry of reconciliation. When he convinces the world of faults and failures, he and the world gloat, discrediting the testimony. Paul therefore aimed to give no offense, keeping the ministry blameless.
Les explains that there is nothing the devil likes better than to besmirch or put a smudge on a ministry—whether it is a personal ministry, a local church, or a denomination. Once the devil convinces the world of our faults and failures, he gloats and the world gloats with him. This is why Paul was constantly aware of the same danger and did not want anything to cause people to say, “Look what he’s doing.” Paul sought to keep the ministry blameless and give no offense in anything, so that the ministry of reconciliation could never be blamed. Les notes that Paul had to constantly defend his apostleship because he was constantly being falsely accused, illustrating how the enemy works to discredit ministry through accusations and failures.
