Les Feldick Bible Study

What happens if we are the work of a creative act of God?

If a person is the work of a creative act of God, old things pass away, including old appetites, and everything becomes new and different. This produces changed appetites, lifestyle, behavior, and attitude—not sinlessness or a halo—but evidence of being a new person.

Les explains that every believer experiences a change of appetites, a change of lifestyle, a change in behavior, and a change in attitude because they are a new person, different from what they were. That does not give a halo or make them sinless, but they are the result of a creative work of a Creator God and have a whole new concept in life. He illustrates this with a young man who spent every Saturday night in the tavern and the bar and asked why Les was never in the bar on Saturday night. Les replied that he did not see him in church on Sunday morning. Their lifestyles and appetites are totally different, as different as daylight and dark. Les therefore questions professing Christians who see nothing wrong with doing everything the world does, because there must be a change in attitude and behavior. If there is no change, he doubts anything happened. Old things, old appetites, pass away, and everything becomes new and different. He looks for that change in lifestyle before saying someone has come to know the Lord or has been born again.
