What happens to old appetites when someone becomes the work of a creative act of God?

When a person becomes the work of a creative act of God, the old appetites pass away with the old things. They receive changed appetites, lifestyle, behavior, and attitude, becoming a new person different from before. This change does not make them sinless, but it gives them a wholly new concept in life.

Les teaches that every believer suddenly has a change of appetites, a change of lifestyle, a change in behavior, and a change in attitude because they are a new person, different from what they were. This does not give a halo or make them sinless, but they are now the result of a creative work of a Creator God and have a whole new concept in life. Les illustrates this with a young man his same age who spent every Saturday night in the tavern and bar. When the man asked why he never saw Les in the bar on Saturday night, Les replied, for the same reason he did not see him in church on Sunday morning. Their lifestyles and appetites are totally different, as different as daylight and dark. Les questions professing Christians who see nothing wrong with doing everything the world does, insisting there must be a change in attitude and behavior. If there is no change, he doubts anything has happened, because if we are the work of a creative act of God, old things are passed away—those old appetites—and everything becomes new and different. This change in lifestyle is the first thing he looks for before saying someone has come to know the Lord or has been born again.
