Who is baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit?
Every believer—not only the most spiritual or those with a particular experience—is baptized by the one Holy Spirit into one body, the body of Christ. Scripture states in 1 Corinthians 12:13 that all believers are baptized into that one body by the Spirit.
Les explains that because believers no longer hang on Christ's earthly ministry but on His death, burial, and resurrection, salvation is conditional: if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. This new creative work of the Holy Spirit makes a believer a believer. Les then points to 1 Corinthians 12:13, where by one Spirit—the Holy Spirit—all believers, not just the best, most spiritual, or those who had a particular experience, are baptized into one body. So the Holy Spirit baptizes every believer into the body of Christ.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
