Who has been baptized into the Body of Christ by the one Spirit?

Every believer—Jew or Gentile, bond or free—has been baptized into the Body of Christ by the one Spirit. Paul says all were placed or made to drink into one Spirit, not just a few more spiritual ones. Even the carnal Corinthians were in Christ, though still babes.

Les explains that Paul is not picking out just a few of the more spiritual Corinthians; he addresses all of them. All, every last one, every one of us have been baptized into the Body, whether Jew or Gentile, whether bond or free. Every one, Paul says, has been placed or made to drink into one Spirit. The Corinthians were mostly carnal, fleshly, even as babes, but they were still in Christ and in the Body of Christ. Les emphasizes it is easy to wrongly say these people were not believers, but they were; they were in the Body of Christ, though carnal and with a long ways to go. Paul wrote these letters because the Corinthian people had questions, including about marriage and meat offered to idols, largely because they were still so carnal.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
