Who is baptized by the one Spirit into the body of Christ?

All believers are baptized by the one Spirit into the body of Christ. Paul declares that it is not just the most spiritual or a chosen few, but every believer—Jew or Gentile, bond or free—is placed into that one body, which is not a denomination but Christ’s body.

Les teaches from I Corinthians chapter 12 that Paul uses the analogy or illustration of a human body. The human body is one but has many members, and so also is Christ, or the body of Christ. In verse 13, Paul says that by one Spirit are we—not just the most spiritual, not just a chosen few, but all believers—baptized or placed into that one body, the body of Christ. It is not a denomination, but the body of Christ. Whether Jew or Gentile, bond or free, all have been made to drink or partake of that one Spirit. Paul then returns to the physical body illustration, showing that the body is not one member but many, and even a little toe, though unseen, is still part of the body.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
