What would happen if Christians were as dedicated to Christ as communists were to the party?
If Christians devoted themselves to Christ with the same single-mindedness, the world would be dramatically different. A communist worker put the party ahead of family and everything else; if believers came even close to that zeal for Christ, society would be transformed.
Les explains this by recalling the fear that communist Russia might overrun the world, when no one saw it crumbling. He read a Time Magazine interview with an ordinary communist factory worker who, after work, went to communist headquarters and worked for the party until 10 or 11 at night. His family and everything else came second to his love and pushing of communism. Les thought that if Christians would even come close to that kind of dedication, if we could just come close to it, what a different world we would be living in. The contrast is with believers who are unconcerned and leave their Christianity at merely escaping hell and going to heaven, which is not what God wants.
