What would happen to believers if Christ were the King of the Church?

If Christ were the King of the Church, believers would not be joint heirs with Christ. Instead, they would be His subjects, merely under the King, as the whole world will one day be. But Scripture presents believers as members of His Body, a closer relationship than subjects of a King.

Les teaches that Christ is the King, eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, and He will be King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Yet Paul never calls Him the King of the Church, and believers in the Body of Christ should not refer to Him as their King. He is the Head of the Body, Savior, and Lord, but not King of the Church. If He were the King of the Church, believers would not be joint heirs with Christ; they would be His subjects, merely under the King, as the whole world will one day be. But believers are members of His Body, a far closer relationship than being subjects of a King. Les encourages checking this by studying Paul's letters.
