What does God expect of a believer in daily life?
God expects a believer in daily life to live for Him as fully as possible, following the guidance and direction He gives, rather than merely professing faith and assuming heaven. Christians should not expect a trouble-free path, but should remain assured the Lord is with them through trials, pain, and suffering.
Les explains that God does not expect believers to have a rose-petaled pathway. Christians will face trials and tribulations, and they will experience pain, suffering, and sickness just like anybody else. Yet they have the blessed assurance that whatever they go through, the Lord is with them and they are not alone. What God does expect is that they live for Him as much as is within them, according to the guidance and direction He gives. Les warns that too many people are totally unconcerned: they say, "I'm a Christian, I won't go to hell, I'll go to heaven," and leave it at that, but that is not what God wants. To illustrate, Les recalls reading about an ordinary communist factory worker who, after work, went to communist headquarters and worked for the party until 10 or 11 at night, putting family and everything else second to pushing communism. Les thought that if Christians would even come close to such devotion, the world would be different.
