What does it mean that we were made alive together with Christ?

This speaks of union with Christ: though we were dead in sins before salvation, when Christ died we died, and when He arose we arose to newness of life. United with Him, we receive life and complete forgiveness—every trespass past, present, and future already forgiven.

Les teaches from Colossians 2 that Paul writes to those who were dead in their sins in their pre-salvation existence and in the uncircumcision of their flesh, regarding pagan Gentiles. The quickening together with Christ means that when Christ died, we died; when He arose from the dead, we arose to newness of life. Therefore He has made us alive together with Him, having forgiven all trespasses—every last one we did commit, are committing, and will commit—already forgiven. Les stresses that when Christ died He died for all the world's sins and tasted death for every man. This rests on believing God's Word, for without faith it is impossible to please Him.
