What does it mean that if we are dead with Christ we shall live with Him?

Being dead with Christ means identification with His crucifixion: old Adam is crucified, and we are dead to his desires. Because Christ rose physically, literally, and lives evermore, those identified with Him will also live with Him. Resurrection is fundamental to faith.

Les explains that being dead with Christ is by identification with the crucifixion. Those who have let old Adam be crucified are now dead to the desires of that old Adam. This is not something you work for or try to attain; it is part of the power of God exercised in His saving salvation. The promise attached is that if we are dead with Christ, we shall also live with Him, which is why the resurrection is fundamental to our faith. Les stresses that Christ rose physically, literally, spiritually, and is alive evermore. Those who cannot believe all of it are as lost as if they believed none of it. In verse 10, Christ died unto sin once to rid us of old Adam, and that once-for-all sacrifice satisfies for all eternity.
