What does Jesus do as our advocate the moment we confess our sin?

At the moment a believer confesses sin, Jesus Christ the righteous acts as advocate with the Father, pointing to His blood and declaring that the confessing one is under the blood. Because of that blood, no accuser can bring condemnation; forgiveness is already provided, so confession—not begging—is what God requires.

Les teaches from 1 John 1:9 that when we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. God expects us to confess sin, not beg for forgiveness. Les says he has told people for 20 years to quit adding the cliche of asking God to forgive all their sins, because they are already forgiven. When we confess and call sin what God calls it, the Lord Jesus as advocate points to that blood and says, 'Father, he's under the blood, she's under the blood.' Then, as Paul says, nobody accuses. This rests on Christ as our high priest, who presented His blood and fulfilled the tabernacle types.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
