Who is our Advocate with the Father when a believer sins?

Jesus Christ, the righteous One, is the believer's Advocate with the Father. Scripture teaches that when a believer sins, He immediately intercedes, reminding the Father that the sinner is under the blood and belongs to Him. God never encourages sin, but knowing believers will sin, He provided this advocacy.

Les explains that John is writing to believers, not to the unsaved world, saying, "my little children, these things I write unto you that you sin not." God never encourages the believer to sin, but being omniscient He knows we will sin. The old Adam is so powerful that even though we reckon him dead, he pops up, gets his licks in, and we sin. Yet if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father: Jesus Christ, the righteous One. Les pictures heaven's response: immediately our Advocate comes to the Father and says, "but Father, He's under the blood. He's a believer. He's under the blood. She's under the blood," and He picks it up on our behalf.

1 John 2:1
