What did Adam and Eve do when they heard God in the garden after they sinned?

Instead of running to meet the Lord God when they heard Him in the garden, Adam and Eve hid. They did not go looking for Him. God had to find them. This illustrates that mankind will not seek God of his own volition; God must make the first move.

Les explains that after Adam and Eve sinned and made fig-leaf coverings, they heard the Lord God in the garden toward evening. Rather than running to meet Him and saying they were looking for Him, they hid. God had to find them. Les says this pattern has never changed: mankind will never of his own volition go looking for God; it is contrary to our makeup, so God has to make the first move. He clarifies this does not mean extreme Calvinism, where God has already picked who He will save and who He won't, because the work of the cross was sufficient for everybody. He illustrates with John 10's door to the sheepfold, located at ground level, not beyond anybody's reach, yet it still has to begin with God.
