Why did God create man in the first place?
God created man so that He could have someone to whom He would extend His love and who would then love Him back. This is stated as the only reason we are here. Because love cannot be forced, God created humanity with the capacity to return His love willingly.
Les teaches that from the very onset of the creation of man, God's purpose was to have someone who, after He had extended His love to them, would love Him back. He points out that the word "love" is glaringly absent from the Ten Commandments God gave Moses. Later, in Deuteronomy 6, Moses tells Israel to love the Lord with all their heart, but Les notes that no one can force someone else to love them. God knew He could not force love, and that is why He created man: to have someone who would love Him back. Les says that is the only reason we are here.
